Holy crap, I’m outta shape
I slept awful. I bet I woke up and looked at my alarm clock at least five times between 10:30 last night and 5 this morning.
I used to do that when I was afraid I’d oversleep for an extra early shift at The Journal.
Nerves, I guess. A new routine. A new me.
I took this picture when my alarm finally started going off. (Yes, that’s dust on the clock and nightstand. Let’s focus, people …)
I hit snooze twice.
But I got up, and I got on the treadmill.
I have a long, long way to go.
I walked for 21 minutes, exactly 1 mile.
And then I barely walked downstairs because my dang shins and calves were on fire and spazzing out. Heck, you can’t blame them. They haven’t moved much in a few years.
Alas, here we are. Day 1.
My pulse is almost back to normal, I can breathe again and the ringing in my ears appears to have stopped.
I survived the first workout, and tonight I’ll talk more about the food.
Today’s gonna be a good day.
How’s it going for you?
