Inspire me

If you’re here for inspiration, I still ain’t got it.

This week’s weigh-in: Zero.

I guess it’s good that the gain stopped, but it’s far from ideal.

I’ve just really struggled since everything turned so screwy over the summer.

Since the first week of July, our son has had maybe three instances where he has stayed in his bed the whole night.

I don’t like to use that as an excuse, but I’m exhausted. I never realized how much a good night’s sleep was contributing to my weight loss success until that consistency was shot.

I’m still struggling with Dad’s death. Last week, “Free Bird,” which they played at his funeral, came on the radio, and I bawled all the way to work.

Anyway, this is life. No one’s situation is perfect.

But I have to find ways to rise above it all and find happiness. I know people who are.

Former work friend Jim has lost about 50 pounds the last I heard. New work pal Alan has joined an adult baseball league.

I have a couple of friends who are taking steps to find a better job.

Tifany, my best friend from home, is training for a half-marathon.

And my mom bought her first home computer so she can stay in better touch with me and my son. She’s even joined Facebook and is learning to video chat with us.

See, there. Inspiration is around us. Let’s share it with each other.

OK, your turn. Tell me one thing you are doing toward a happier life.

  1. I've got some ideas, but I'm going to send them via FB message. Hang in there, you're still down 37 pounds and that's something to celebrate.

    1. Big big big big step: Met with E for 3-1/2 hours yesterday. OMG.
    2. Submitted an app - first one - last night. Something really off the wall.
    3. Called J at B+ this morning.
    4. Set a target exit date of Oct. 1 (keep your wings crossed)

  3. Well, sister of mine, you are the one that's inspiring me. Your blog is making me think about writing again. I can see how much you care about the words on every page and the meticulous way in which you express yourself.

On another note, the 3rd is a horrible day. They will just keep coming and there is nothing we can do about it. We will crumble when "Free Bird" plays unexpectedly and there's nothing we can do about that either. Dad is gone and we are powerless. What a bitch....

And now you know the identity of this strange person who is commenting on your blog post. We have a long way to go, sis.

    How's that for inspiration...

  4. The more I think about it, the darker my earlier comment sounds. What I really meant to say was that I am still here. You are probably the only other person that I know who is feeling the same emptiness that I am.

My pep talk turned into something a little darker, my apologies.

  5. Ah, sweet Looshus. I'm so glad you're still here. I am too. You know where to find me.

  6. Misty, you did the Crim AND did the Mackinac Bridge Walk! THAT is something to be inspired about. Loved reading about it, too. I did send you an e-mail a while back; hope you got it, but maybe you only check FB and the blogs these days ...

  7. Terri! I love you. I want you to know that and remember it even though I have sucked so bad at keeping in touch with you. I did the Crim 5K, which is kind of, say, Crim Light. But thank you. I miss you and was so happy to read how well you are doing. (Give in to the Facebook ... give in to the Facebook ...)
